Gretchen Gier
​
​Gretchen is the Case Manager responsible for the Refugee Cash Assistance, Refugee Medical Assistance, Refugee Medical Screening and Refugee Health Promotion/Refugee Mental Health Initiative programs.

Hannah Duncan​

​Hannah is the Case Manager responsible for the Adjustment & Referrals, Employability and English Language Training programs.

Malary Young

​Malary is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs including Employability, English Language Training, Health Promotion & Mental Health Initiative, and Adjustment & Referrals. She manages program reporting, data tracking, and community partnerships to promote effective implementation and client participation across all program areas.

Christian Watkins

​Christian has joined the Manhattan Area Resettlement Team (MART) as Development Coordinator, where she supports efforts to raise awareness about the organization’s mission and impact—both within the local community and beyond. In her role, Christian manages MART’s social media presence, donor relations, and grant opportunities, helping to strengthen connections and expand support for refugee resettlement and welcome initiatives.

Melynda Cashman

Melynda ​is responsible for receiving volunteer applications, interviewing potential volunteers, and scheduling orientation sessions. She manages communication by keeping volunteers informed about upcoming opportunities, and writing a monthly newsletter to engage volunteers with the organization’s activities and updates.

Michelle McRay

Michelle serves as the lead English Instructor within the ELT program, where she designs and delivers accessible, culturally responsive ESL instruction at varying proficiency levels. She ensures that students gain practical language skills that support employment, community integration, and daily life. Michelle also manages ongoing student assessment, tracks learner progress, and provides individualized support to promote long-term success. 

Virginia Rodriguez

Virginia serves as the Executive Director, overseeing all aspects of the non-profit’s operations, including strategic planning, fiscal management, community relations advocacy, operational efficiency, and program management, all in compliance with the Kansas Office of Refugees (KSOR) ​

​Lisa Holden

Lisa is the accountant and helps preparing the financial statements, record keeping, payroll management, taxes and compliance.

Our Team's Purpose

Since our founding in 2021, Manhattan Area Resettlement Team has helped hundreds of individuals and families in the Manhattan.
​From providing emergency assistance to helping people find stable housing, we are proud of the impact we have made. But there is still much work to be done, and we are committed to continuing our efforts.
